Senior UX Engineer

Think Company

November 2020 - current

As a Senior UX Engineer at Think Company, most of the past year has been agentic AI development. I've been the primary contributor on a set of full-stack proof-of-concept apps and internal tools, working across agentic workflows, RAG architectures, MCP server development and integration, multi-provider LLM APIs, and AI-augmented design-to-code pipelines. I've been a leader in Think Company's internal AI literacy and adoption efforts - turning research into starter kits, templates, and internal tools the wider team can use. A few highlights:

  • Project Initiation appA full-stack, multi-tenant agentic application that automates our client onboarding workflow. Architected a milestone-driven workflow engine that dispatches agentic and deterministic capabilities across the initiation sequence. Persona-tailored capabilities include document generation and semantic search. Features RAG document ingestion via ChromaDB, SSE-streamed LLM responses, Supabase Auth with RLS, and multi-provider LLM support.
  • Figma Sync to StorybookA CLI tool that automates syncing of Figma design tokens, component structure, and CSS into Storybook codebases. It integrates with the Figma Desktop MCP server and includes a webhook listener that triggers syncs on "Ready for Dev" status changes.
  • Storybook AI design systemProduction-ready React + TypeScript template that wraps figma-sync, an automated token pipeline, Figma Code Connect, and embedded Claude Code skills that guide AI-assisted component implementation. Designed to be cloned and configured for any client design system.
  • Agentic full-stack starter kitExpress 5 + React 19 + ChromaDB with multi-provider LLM support, MCP integrations, SSE streaming, and multi-format document ingestion. It's the foundation under several of the projects above.
  • AI-powered WordPress theme generatorProduces complete block-theme installations (theme.json, FSE templates, SQLite database) from a structured form, using a tool-calling agent to orchestrate file generation and theme activation.
  • Statement AnalyzerAn internal research and strategy tool for analyzing and synthesizing purpose statements. Semantic vector search, multi-step agentic workflows, multi-format document ingestion, and OCR for scanned PDFs.

I also do broader UX engineering work - building accessible, performant websites, apps, and design systems for clients, including production Storybook component libraries in JavaScript and TypeScript. The Figma-to-code AI tooling above grew directly out of that design-systems work.

I've co-authored a couple of Think Company blog posts along the way - Launching dark mode on thinkcompany.com and 7 Benefits to using Storybook - plus several on the internal Think Tech blog.

Development Experience

Web Developer

King Design

July 2014 - December 2019

At King Design, I delivered high-performing, accessible, and SEO-friendly sites for a wide range of clients. Specializing in WordPress development, I focused on writing clean and semantic code for the end user while customizing the administrative side to meet each client's data structure and publishing needs - empowering them to manage their site easily.

Sites I worked on include Seakeeper, ISA, Duncan Hines, Birds Eye, Boston Baking, ABX, and King Design.

Being part of a small team meant I could go beyond web development and influence the entire design and development process - from planning content architecture to post-launch traffic analysis and recommendations. I also wrote a few blog posts along the way, including Defining a Critical CSS Workflow for WordPress, ACF Guten Blocks, and Scrolling & the Fold.

Web Developer

Freelance

2011 - 2014

Working as a freelance developer and solo designer-developer was an invaluable experience. I greatly improved my technical skills and my understanding of how WordPress and the web work. Finding and managing my own clients taught me how critical a website can be for small businesses and entrepreneurs. The design work I did still informs how I approach development and UX decisions today.

Marketing & Advertising Experience

Advertising Professional

Media Strategy & Planning

September 2000 - August 2011

Before moving into web development, I spent more than a decade in advertising - specifically media planning - across Maxus, MindShare, Mediaedge, and Brouillard Communications (all current or former WPP companies). My last role was Partner, Group Planning Director at Maxus in NYC, where I led the team on Church & Dwight consumer brands. I worked in traditional media but spent a lot of time in the then-emerging digital space, including social strategy and custom program development. That background taught me client and team management, public speaking, and an analytical bent - all of which I lean on regularly in my engineering work today.
